Joseph Altuzarra’s mix and match multicultural brilliance once again hits the soul. In his Resort 2013 lookbook, he manages to bring his deft and classic skills to test once again - this time, it’s the ikats, the tribal elements and the colourful blends. I truly feel that ikats can be mixed with classic ideas - they need not be strangers to traditional dressing. The way in which the jackets collide with the vibrant colours - that’s where true art lives. Against conformity - against the very grain of predictablity. I wonder why no one has experimented with it - in such dramatic yet subtle fashion here in India. But in other news, this reminds of the Gucci SS10 collection - in a very mild manner. But then, can ikats ever be mild?
